At Hillmer Eye Clinic, we provide eye care services for the Fargo area. Our optometrist offers routine care as well as vision screenings. Our goal is to help you preserve your vision and the health of your eyes for as long as possible.
Routine Vision Screenings
Your age, any known vision issues, genetic factors, and various other health issues influence how often you should receive routine vision screenings. When you visit our office, we will provide you with a visual acuity test. This consists of our eye doctor asking you to look into a magnifying device that fits over each of your eyes. You then look at different lines of letters through the device. You read each line and tell the doctor which one appears the clearest.
Our eye doctor may ask you to perform a test for astigmatism. It determines if you have it as well as the degree. During this test, you have to look at two different images. You must identify which one appears the clearest. Based on the results, our optometrist may determine your prescription for either contacts or glasses.
Eye Health Exams
Part of the care we provide to our patients includes eye health exams. For instance, our optometrist will use an eye pressure test to assess the pressure in your eyes. If it appears higher than normal, this may indicate you have glaucoma and further testing may be required. Our optometrist may also look inside of your eye using a light and a special magnifying device. This allows our eye doctor to inspect your retina and various other areas inside of your eyes.
Assessment for LASIK
Visit our office if you would like to have LASIK eye surgery. Our doctor will assess the health of your eyes to ensure this surgery is right for you. Our doctor will work with you to help you understand the procedure more thoroughly, so you can visit an eye surgeon who offers it. Our doctor will provide you with a local referral.
