MEET DR. HILLMER
DR. JED D. HILLMER
Optometrist
Dr. Jed D. Hillmer received his Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University in 2006, graduating with distinction. In 2008, after a couple of years working in offices in the Minneapolis - St. Paul, Minnesota area, he joined the practice of Dr. Gary L. Renier, studying geriatric vision care and low vision. He purchased Dr. Renier's clinic in 2010, establishing Hillmer Eye Clinic.

Dr. Hillmer has given multiple presentations on the Aging Eye, Vision and Falling, Low Vision Rehabilitation, and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation. He has served as the Clinical Director of the North Dakota Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes Clinic since 2014. Professionally, he is a member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA), the American Optometric Association (AOA), and the North Dakota Optometric Association (NDOA). He currently serves on the NDOA Board of Directors as President.

A native of rural Carlos, Minnesota, ​Dr. Hillmer graduated from high school in Alexandria, Minnesota. He attended North Dakota State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Zoology prior to his time at Pacific University. He lives in north Fargo and cherishes his time with his wife, Annika, and their children.
